One of the perks of using natural beauty products is that a lot of them can help you in real-life emergencies in more ways than one. Take Ellovi Butter for example. For a couple of incredibly hectic weeks, it became my makeup remover, face moisturizer, body butter, lip balm, cuticle treatment and hair styling cream. There was even a time when I almost ate it with my breakfast toast and it’s for good reasons.
First, I was very, very hungry and I had nothing but a dry slice of toast. Second, Ellovi Butter is made up of six simple and clean ingredients I usually find in my food, anyways. Third, it smells like food, delicious food — and usually, that’s good enough for me.
Ingredients: macadamia nut oil, coconut oil, marula oil, hemp seed oil, shea butter
Luxurious but very functional
You know how luxury and function usually don’t go together in life? Well, it does in a jar of Ellovi Butter. I could think of so many ways to use it apart from just being a ‘skin butter’ and yet, it feels and smells so luxurious. It’s got to be one of the softest, most velvety and creamiest skin butters I’ve tried. It’s like solidified coconut oil in a jar but applies much, much smoother and stays solid even in Singapore’s hot weather. It only dissolves once it touches the skin.
The texture can be oily at first but it absorbs into the skin after a while.
Great for Protecting the Skin
If you’ve got dry skin, this would do well together with your body lotion. I’m not sure whether it’s enough on its own because dry skin usually needs hydration (water) + moisture sealant (oils). It’s a great alternative to petroleum jelly and all those delicious-smelling, edible-looking body butters that, you know, aren’t really edible. It helped protect my lips at night and made my legs look and feel less scaly. Have I told you I’m 1/8 mermaid?
Toss or Keep?
For people who have more than 15 products on their vanity shelf and love the clutter and complexity that comes with it, the Ellovi Butter may be more of a luxury than a need. However, for skincare minimalists or those who are going through hectic phases in life (house renovation, exams, work deadlines, TV series marathons, zombie apocalypse, etc,), a jar or two of Ellovi Butter might just be a life-saver.
Where to buy? I was sent a jar of Ellovi Butter to try by the bubbly Kelly, co-founder of Ellovi. Thank you! You can purchase a 3.5 jar of Ellovi Butter for $26 from here or learn more about it on the Ellovi website.
