ecostore’s neat packaging and product range captured my love for simplicity. It offers a range of ‘essentials’ from personal to home care products. It is not an organic brand but it doesn’t use common nasties like sulfates, petrochemicals and synthetic dyes and fragrances. It’s also free from Genetically Engineered ingredients (a concept that is new to me outside food) and is a cruelty free brand.
Naturally Better Company, ecostore’s local retailer, sent me two products to try and is sponsoring the giveaway below for my local readers. I’m reviewing two delicious-smelling body care products from ecostore – the Coconut and Vanilla Body Wash and the Light Moisturizing Lotion.
Coconut & Vanilla Body Wash
This smells like a sweet pie – so delicious! The texture is like a creamy gel. It foams decently and leaves a silky film on the skin which some may not feel very comfortable with. However, if you’ve tried natural cleansers before or those that aren’t laden with skin-drying sulfates, you’ll probably be used to this ‘non-squeaky feeling’ already.
Ironically, even with the silky film left on the skin after rinsing, at first I thought that this was drying my skin. But after using it for over a week, I was surprised to find the skin on my thighs felt softer and smoother.
Ingredients: Aqua · Sodium Lauroamphoacetate · Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate · Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride · Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate · Parfum · Coco Glucoside · Glyceryl Oleate · Cocos Nucifera · Vanilla Planifolia Extract
Light Moisturizing Lotion
It doesn’t get absorbed into my skin as quickly as I prefer but it dries nicely without leaving an icky, sticky fee. Personally, I think my dry skin needs something more moisturizing and hydrating but I also don’t have a problem using this during daytime.
Ingredients: Aqua · Simmondsia Chinensis Oil · Coco-Caprylate · Cetearyl Olivate · Sorbitan Olivate · Phenoxyethanol · Caprylyl Glycol · Butyrospermum Parkii · Cetearyl Alcohol · Panthenol · Xanthan Gum · Citrus Sinensis · Litsea Cubeba · Rosa Damascena · Piper Nigrum · Santalum Album · Agathosma Betulina · Aniba Rosaeodora · Coriandrum Sativum · Elettaria Cardamomum · Pogostemon Cablin
Toss or Keep?
I’ve been using both products for a month now. Both somehow help in keeping my skin feel more moisturized – I don’t get awful claw marks anymore when I scratch myself. However, I’m not sure they help manage the dry and itchy chicken skin on the back of my arms. To ecostore’s credit, there are extremely few products out there that do.
