So what exactly happened to my 2012 resolutions? And what’s up for 2013?

Here’s my obligatory “Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!” post. So last year, my habit resolution was to, as with the past couple of years, avoid being late for work. As for beauty, I promised to try and cure my post acne pigmentations using natural methods only and even gave myself an ultimatum that should I fail, I dared myself to go for a laser treatment. So what exactly happened?

Let’s skip the issue of tardiness. I have an entire lifetime to deal with that and I can’t say I’m not exactly trying (Good thing none of my officemates read my blog or they might start the year throwing up).

Throwback at my 2012 Beauty Resolution
As for my pigmentations, I’m glad to report most of them are gone. However, it wasn’t easy especially after I began to have breakouts on my temple and forehead again later this year. But the dark marks from last year are all gone. My skin is still sallow and uneven though and I’m really fighting the urge to go for lasers whenever I watch too many Chinese and Japanese shows filled with porcelain works of art that act, dance and sing. So I guess, I’ll just extend the deadline of this goal until mid of this year with my fingers crossed.

I want to order my own ‘hor fun’
Now, as for my other non-beauty resolution, I plan to officially study Mandarin. In fact, early this morning, I already started scouting for an online teacher and I would be e-meeting her for the first time before the week ends. So by the end of 2013, I will dare myself to at least be able to order my own food in Chinese without Hubby’s help.

Blog Goals?
I’m keeping it simple and achievable. I NEED to put up a proper “About Me” page.

Thank you for making 2012 a blast!
Before I dive into my New Year’s Eve pudding, let me thank all of you for your company, your comments, support, trust, patience and to a certain extent, your friendship. You’ve all kept me sane and motivated. I might not update often but I really treasure those few times that I’m able to and I get the chance to exchange thoughts and stories with all of you — it’s like having tea break with friends!

So cheers to a beautiful, meaningful and fulfilling 2013, Eco Beauties!

Any goals this new year?

Oh, I love the way you took your picture!!! Creatively hiding your face!

Learn Mandarin? I thought all Singaporeans know how to read Chinese? Am I wrong? I do think it’s good to learn a new language. I used to learn German, but ahem… life gets in the way, over the last few years, I’ve come to forget it.

In 2013, I mean to open up myself by honing my speaking skills. The kind of speaking skill I mean to master isn’t on the language side. Being an introverted and timid person all my life, I would like to be able to speak on the stage or strike up a conversation with people with ease. So, I will work pretty hard on my own confidence and social skills. It will be another bold step I take after my 2012 makeover. Wish me luck!!

      Thank you! :)

Oh, that’s not true! LOL. Singapore is made up of different races, each with their own ‘mother tongue’. That also means it’s harder to specialize in one language. As for me, English is the language I’m most comfortable with.

I can totally relate to you… but the weird thing about me is that I used to be an extrovert. I used to be able to speak on stage and perform in front of a lot of people. But as I grew older, I became shy and self-conscious. From experience, I figured that the best way to harness my speaking skills is to really put myself out there and talk to people even when I know I may sound awkward, dull or too sarcastic for comfort. Then, after each encounter, I review the conversations in my head and analyze whether there was any better way I could have addressed questions thrown at me, etc… I should put this in my 2013 goal, too. Let me wish both of us luck then! :)

    Hi Vivi!

Happy new year! I love your picture above too! And good luck with Mandarin classes. Watching Taiwanese TV series and listening to mandarin songs definitely help. :)

Hi Chui Shia, thanks! :) I love singing and have always wanted to learn how to sing Mandarin songs without sounding like a broken trumpet. I always end up humming when I don’t know how to pronounce certain words. :p

Oh, my hair looks much, much better in photos than it is in real life! lol

I don’t think your goals are conflicting. In fact, I think it’s a good idea to bulk up both goals in one so you won’t end up neglecting any aspect of your life. Good luck to you! :)
