Beijing 101 Review — As some of you may already know by now, I went for a Beijing 101 treatment about two years ago and did a two-part review about my less than satisfactory experience. Since my review might already be outdated, I decided to visit Beijing 101 again recently to check whether the quality of their services and treatments has improved.*
Consultation
The consultation started with a scan of my scalp. My consultant, Michelle, who also happens to be the manager of the NEX branch was well-versed with hair care. I was surprised to learn some new things from her – I thought I already knew enough before then. Although I still had a few flakes here and there, Michelle said my scalp was generally healthy.
A Customized Treatment
After the consultation, Michelle referred me to my first therapist to begin my customized treatment which included a scalp mask, a collagen-rich anti-aging hair & scalp mousse and a hair tonic with massage. I’ve tried both the mask and the tonic before so the mousse was something new. The scalp mask seemed to have changed a bit as it now smelled strongly of rosemary (which I’m currently using in my own DIY anti-hair loss scalp masks, too). Since they were extremely busy during my treatment (it was after work which was considered peak hour), I was transferred to the care of another therapist. Overall, my treatment turned out to be very comfortable and relaxing. Although my second therapist was very young, she was skilled and almost lulled me to sleep with her massage techniques.
Conclusion
I was pretty happy and satisfied with my treatment. Everything was definitely a huge improvement compared to my experience 2 ½ years ago at the now defunct Simei branch. My scalp felt so healthy for at least 4 days after the treatment. On the 2nd day, I didn’t even wash my hair and it still felt normal, clean and not greasy. I’m even considering going back and buying the anti-aging hair and scalp mousse for myself.

alas, I feel my hair getting to be quite greasy on the second day whenever I go for salon treatments.
My hair is really fine so I guess the oil becomes extra obvious.
A month ago, I used a shampoo that made my scalp really healthy for 2 weeks but after that, my scalp went back to its usual, greasy, flaky self. T_T
i got this shampoo curse too
but currently i am using the nioxin for thinning hair, so far after i wash it in the morning, it stays ok till at least after work. if i use other shampoo, it turns greasy just after lunch! i am finishing the 400ml tube, maybe i should get another one =/

Oh, the concept of the mousse is interesting. It helps to lengthen the “lifespan” of your hair. Coz apparently, are our hair goes through several stages before it grows old and falls off. But if your hair strands have longer lives, it will take a while before they become brittle and start falling off. I’m not sure how much the mousse costs but if it’s not too expensive, I might really consider buying it because the ingredients are agreeable to me.
oh that sounds nice
yeah, the longer hair stays, better it is!!!

Hi
I have previously been to Beijing101 for a 10 session mask but has stopped when my sessions finished up as I find it pricey to substain such a lifestyle, I hav similar prob as u, oily scalp and dandruff which eventually lead to hair loss. Can I know what kind of diet do u adopt that helps on the scalp?
Thank you.
Hi Kitty, for me I had to do a ‘major’ diet haul to notice a difference. More steamed veggies, less meat and definitely less fried food, sweets and dairy. Then I took Omega-3 supplements.
Aside from that, I make sure I do a hair and scalp mask every week (using aloe vera and rosemary herbs) and use a suitable shampoo (this one is a challenge because I can’t say I’ve found the perfect one yet except for V&M Emu Shampoo, it’s all natural– I bought it while on a vacation in the Philippines and I don’t know how to buy it again).
Right now, my diet is not as healthy and my dandruff is back although I don’t lose as much hair and don’t have oily scalp anymore.
The diet u mentioned sounded more like for slimming down. Haha. For food I think I’m already considered quite healthy eating, eg when I lunch at food court I only eat Yong Tau Foo, herbal soup or sliced fish soup noodle. I do eat fast food though at times. But my scalp prob still persist. I totally agree that its v hard to find an ideal shampoo, recently I have doing much research to find a sulphate free shampoo which will give me less itch. But sulphate free shampoo normally doesnt come with anti dandruff/hair loss/ oily scalp properties. Moreover gd shampoos are not cheap. Lets hope we can het our prob solved soon! Thanks for sharing.
To be honest I don’t think YTF, sliced fish soup etc are consider healthy given the amt of MSG they use + the fish paste in YTF is usually laden with salt, sugar, starch etc. They’re probably just considered healthier compared to other hawker food. I have extremely oily skin (and ot course scalp) and I find that eliminating the white food from my diet ie. white flour, sugar, salt, vinegar, rice helps. I also try not to use shampoo since its basically just hair soap so I use baking soda to wash my hair. Baking soda really helps cut the oil and its so cheap. When my hair gets oily midday I also dust it with baking soda and it looks freshly washed hair immediately. I really have no $ for all these expensive treatments so I can only rely on cheap things like baking soda.
True, they aren’t completely healthy but somehow healthier. Previously, when I went on a detox diet, I cooked most of my meals but during most nights, I had no choice but to eat outside. I remember having simple YTF meals once in a while although I tried not to pick much of the tofu varieties and ate mostly vegetables.
I’m glad you found something that works for you. For me, what helped was cutting down on dairy and white rice. In terms of hair care, I realized oiling my scalp weekly helped balance the oiliness. I’m not able to follow that now so I’m having severe dandruff again although this time, my scalp is dry. Recently, I just started on another 3-week detox journey. Hopefully, I can have a smooth transition to a healthy and sustainable diet after this and also be more consistent with my scalp and hair care routine.
