Quickie Update – Giveaways, Reviews, Help!

Hey, Eco Beauties! I know there’s been a lull in my posts recently and I’ll be sharing you the reasons behind that later on. Well, I’ve been caught up preparing NEW things for the blog in the backstage. Exciting things seem to be brewing up and honestly, I feel so blessed that I could share more and more things with you. There are (possibly) new giveaways lined up, and new blog series I’m seriously considering to roll out soon. And I also need your HELP so please read on!

What has been going on?

  • I visited Manila, Philippines around two weeks ago so expect a “Beauty Notes from Manila, Philippines” post coming up soon with all the tips and haul goodies from my trip. Unfortunately, I lost my camera charger while I was there and that’s currently the major cause of delay for my posts.
  • A new blog header is coming to Eco Beauty Secrets! Been tied up cleaning up the design but hopefully, it’ll be up by this weekend.
  • New giveaway plans (yes, not just one giveaway) are brewing — I don’t want to say anything yet but please watch out for them!

Some Reviews Lined Up
Here are some reviews I have in my draft folder. Unfortunately, since I lost my camera charger, I can’t take photos and I don’t want to use my phone camera. Hopefully, I can think of something by next week.

  • GoW Jen’s Green Tea Cleanser
  • Jane Iredale Circle Delete Undereye Concealer
  • Venus and Marks Cheek and Lip Tint
  • Beijing 101 Treatment – Finale

I Need Your Help
I am planning to roll out a new series in my blog and I’d like to know whether you think it’s something you’ll be interested to see here. Fashion is actually one of my few “closet” interests. Unfortunately, I’m usually too lazy to dress up because of work stress. I really want to start being proactive in dressing up and to motivate myself, I’m thinking of posting a weekly “What I Wore” series. What do you think?

    You were here!

If I knew you were going to be here I would’ve moved mountains to meet with you. :P

Hi Rae, I didn’t even know I was gonna be there until 2 days before the flight! I spent most of my week in Tagaytay and got to visit a resort/zoo there — which by the way, made me feel depressed about the condition of some of the animals :(

Nice! I like to see what others wear. I’m quite lazy to dress up lately so maybe such posts will inspire me too.

I mentioned on your recent post my current loose-shirt-shorts-rubber-slippers problem, right? I feel like I’m in a fashion rut. I’ve got many clothes I bought on impulse but I never get to wear them. Hope we end up inspiring each other, haha!

With regards to the outfit-of-the-week thing, it really depends on you.

I don’t do them on my blog because my passion and interest for fashion is not enough to make me go out of my way to take photos of myself and post the photos online. I’m also trying curb on my spending and doing that time of entry might encourage me to buy more. NOT good.

Anyway, try to assess if it’s something that won’t feel effortful for you to do. For example, it seems like it’s effortful for you to write about skin care and natural and organic stuff. If you feel the same way with fashion do it. :)

Lastly, maybe for now, you can take pictures of yourself only when you’re going out. That way, it’s not that much of an effort, you’re going out and dressing up anyways. You’ll just add an added step by taking photos. You can title your entries as, outfit on the way to the park (or something)

Hey Rae, thanks for your input! :)

I don’t think I can go as far as full-time fashion bloggers because:
      1. I don’t have that many clothes
      2. I still don’t feel like showing my face
      3. I feel shy taking photos in public and my messy room isn’t really the best backdrop
      4. My camera sucks, haha!

BUT I feel that I need to be more responsible with what I wear. I have enough clothes to mix-and-match but I feel that it’s a waste that I don’t wear them simply because I’m too lazy to dress up. But if I make it a responsibility to dress up nicely at least once a week, then I might be motivated to actually do it. My style now is not even casual — it’s plain lazy. I’m always in loose t-shirts, shorts and rubber slippers with no accessories whatsoever considering I’ve got 2 boxes of trinkets hidden under my bed.

Really thanks for your tip. I guess I would start really slow. I’ll definitely just do it once a week. :)

i supported the ‘what i wore’ series too! not a fashionista myself but i like to see what others wear :D

    • http://www.ecobeautysecrets.com Vivi

Thanks, xin! I hope I can get around to doing it. I need to find a private place to take photos first. :p

I’m not really a creative fashion person, but Since you’ll be doing this for your own sake and for self-motivation, I think it’s not a bad idea. It’s really up to you. I think the small fashion segment is good to encourage others to frugally use what’s already in their closet instead of buying new stuff. I also have a lot of clothes I bought and inherited and never wear. I have a lazy style too..loose tops, jeans and sneakers..sometimes I wear the same outfit more than once in a week. I’m excited for the upcoming features and reviews!

    • http://www.ecobeautysecrets.com Vivi

Hey, at least you’re not lazy enough to put sneakers on! To me, wearing jeans and sneakers is not lazy — just comfortable. But not, I’m too lazy to even tie my shoelaces that I just go around in rubber slippers.

I hope I can start the fashion series soon. Thank you for your tips, Lemon. I hope the series will also help me curb my shopping habits by letting me focus on what I have in the closet. :)

Thanks for the updates! I look forward to seeing your posts from your Manila trip. I’m an accessories girl myself, and if you don’t have time to post on an entire outfit, accessories would be easy to post and nice to see. :)

    • http://www.ecobeautysecrets.com Vivi

Yeah, the Manila trip was mostly awesome! :) Thanks for the tip. I love accessories, too. Maybe I could start posting this weekend (but I gotta find a camera first).

I’ll love to see postings on clothes – be it for work, casual, dinners. Especially on dresses, I have a soft spot for dresses. Yeah, good motivation to take more care in our dressing :)

I have a soft spot for dresses, too. If only I wasn’t as clumsy, I’ll probably wear dresses and skirts more often.
