Review: Yes To Carrots Body Moisturizing Lotion

Let me begin by saying that I have very dry skin especially on my legs and my arms. I can literally doodle names on my lower legs using my finger nails most of the time. Aside from that, I have mild keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) on the back of my arm which makes the skin around that area extra sensitive.  Considering the condition of my skin, looking for a body moisturizer that is effective yet mild and (preferably) natural has always been like a big treasure hunt for me.

Although paraben-free, Yes To Carrot! Body lotion is not organic or purely natural but this is one of those very few moisturizing body lotions which I’ve found to fit almost all of my requirements.

Smell: I really love the smell of this lotion. It reminds me of baby powder or the smell of a newly-bathed baby. It’s fresh and light.

Texture: The lotion has a thin texture that is easy to spread. It doesn’t turn rubbery and is easily absorbed into the skin. It leaves a light layer of oil which doesn’t feel sticky but makes the skin smooth and velvety to the touch.

Moisturizing Power: My skin definitely feels smoother whenever I use this lotion. However, I don’t think it is moisturizing enough for me because I have dry skin and I’m always in an air-conditioned room (even at night). Usually, when I apply the lotion before going to bed, my skin would already feel slightly dry the morning after even after slathering about 3 pumps for each arm and 5-6 pumps for each leg. Yeah, I know that’s a lot! Of course, it could be due to my current skin condition/type and the fact that I’m always in an air-conditioned room. I think this lotion might work for those with normal to slightly oily skin.

  • Really nice smell
  • Leaves the skin feeling velvety and smooth
  • Reasonably price at (to be updated soon)
  • Carrots essence is said to have anti-inflammatory properties and repairs sun-damaged skin (reduces pigmentations when used for a prolonged period of time)
  • Good for instant hydration

  • May not be moisturizing or lasting enough for people with dry skin or are always in air-conditioned places
  • Contains alcohol
  • Although it’s cheap, if you have dry skin, you have to apply quite a lot for it to provide enough moisture

Will I buy this again?
Yes. Until I find my HG body lotion, I’ll stick to this one as it doesn’t irritate my skin further…and I’m just so in love with the smell! I’m also planning to get the Yes To Carrots! Body Butter, to see whether it’ll work better for me.
